Fluorescence Imaged Microdeformation (FIMD)

FIMD was developed in the laboratory of Mohandas Narla at LBNL by Dennis Discher with collaboration from the group of Evan A. Evans.  The technique incorporates single cell deformation resulting from micropipette aspiration (microrheology), fluorescence microscopy and image processing.  FIMD is used to study the lateral organization and distribution of molecular components in living cell membranes under deformation.
